The second annual Picture of the Year competition is an event where the images that became Featured Pictures during the year are voted on by members from all of the Wikimedia projects, to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Only eligible users may vote. You need more than 200 edits in a single Wikimedia account before the start of the competition. Even if you have multiple eligible accounts, you can only vote once.

Please see /Voting to get a voting token. This year, custom voting software developed by User:Bryan and hosted on the toolserver will be used.

  • ROUND 1: 10-17 January 2008. Images are presented in categories but raw approval voting is used, so the top 28 (ignoring categories) go through to final.
  • FINAL: 20-24 January 2008. Single vote. Finalist with the most votes is the Picture of the Year. Two runners-up.

Any eligible voter can vote in the final, even if they didn't vote in Round 1. If you have any problems, please contact the /Committee.
