Salut Yann. All Rights Reserved. --Ruthven (msg) 12:54, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ruthven: OK, I misunderstood the issue. I thought it was about the copyright of the object, because the image doesn't come from the given source. I reopened a DR. Regards, Yann (talk) 13:04, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please alert uploader before deleting

Please do not delete files from Category:Kuvasiskot (or elsewhere) without alerting the uploader first. A couple of weeks ago you bluntly deleted the file Ahti-Karjalainen-1980.jpg although I could have added the required information. Please do not repeat such actions. It would be easier for me to add the information that to upload the image anew. --Mlang.Finn (talk) 17:25, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mlang.Finn: Hi,
I always inform uploader, and you should not reupload a deleted file. Instead, you should request undeletion.
For files from external sources with a free license, you should request a license review. I did it for you this time. Regards, Yann (talk) 17:46, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You did not inform me. It was by chance that I realized the file was unfairly and silently deleted. --Mlang.Finn (talk) 17:54, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
For some reason, I never noticed the alert. (That may be my mistake but I’m puzzled.) --Mlang.Finn (talk) 17:57, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User's POV-push

Hi Yann, if you remember few month ago after the discussion on the COM:AN, you reverted the disputed version of the file to proper one. After that the situation has calmed down, but now on 16:47, 4 July 2019, the user Cherkash again made his controversial edit, so I reverted his version to your version. I'am writing here just to notify you. Regards.--Ⴂ. 06:49, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

According to my research the photos I have uploaded are all in the public domain under Canadian Copyright Laws. I apologize if I have made a mistake. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JeromeOBrien (talk • contribs) 13:09, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@JeromeOBrien: Hi,
Yes, that's quite possible, but you didn't provide enough information, and/or the wrong license. If you would fix that, the files could be undeleted. I did it for File:Petty Harbour Newfoundland Canada Late 1800's.jpg. Please add categories there. Regards, Yann (talk) 13:23, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

James C. Harrison Photos

Hello Yann, You have deleted an image that was uploaded to the James C. Harrison on his Wikipedia page, due to copyright violation. It actually does not violate any copyright, because I own the work and it is my photo. Please advise. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CASMich (talk • contribs) 14:13, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can you have a look at it

  • This file was uploaded by me and OTRS mail was sent by creator regarding the same, but it has not been confirmed till now, now the date of without otrs is about to end/ended. There is no reply from the otrs member. I am tensed now, as there is a huge team of volunteers is been working to bring those volumes on mrwikisource. The OTRS member who was handling this file doesn't seems to be active anymore or they are failing to understand the Marathi names and descriptions. If you could have a look at this and do whatever is needed that would great help to us. thanks and regard. QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! @Krd and Yann: ,
* I uploaded the file, The CEO/Head of the publishing organization sent in a OTRS mail to free copyrights.
* As the person who happens to be head/CEO of the publishing organization He is copyright holder, and those volumes were written by several authors and further edited by a team of editors. And the copyrights are with publishing organizations
* Now, I am not able to understand that, what is the problem in accepting the CEO/Heads email as a valid permission? Even first email mentioned that, the email sender happens to be head/CEO of the publishing organization.
* Thanks for the help and postponement of date QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! [they/them/their] 17:33, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think he should either write from the official email address of the company, or send a copy of his ID, and at least explain in which conditions he acquired the copyright. If the photographer was only a contractor, the copyright of his works remain with him. I will let Krd decide what exactly is needed. Regards, Yann (talk) 17:38, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Structured Data team is hosting an IRC office hour this week on Thursday, 18 July, from 17:00-18:00 UTC. Joining information as well as date and time conversion is available on Meta. Potential topics for discussion are the testing of "other statements", properties that may need to be created for Commons on Wikidata soon, plans for the rest of SDC development, or whatever you might want to discuss. Correction to Lack of Copy Right Tag

Hi, This is Nimitz Zhang. I recently uploaded File:3 cm flak 303 twin ubts.jpg, which is marked by you for lack of Copy Right information.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvience brought to you (this is my first time), please forgive me.

I have updated essential information to the upload and have added an attribution tag along with link to the permission rules of the website.

Can you please re-check my upload for issues and possibly clear it of lack of tags?

Thank you.

--Nimitz Zhang (talk) 16:14, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Nimitz Zhang: Hi,
This image might be in the public domain due to age, but the license you gave is certainly wrong. We need to know who was the photographer, when it was first published, to assess the copyright status. Regards, Yann (talk) 17:54, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

--Hi, can you please start me off on some way to find the original photographer/copyright owner? This was my first time and through my stupid efforts of Google imaging, I traced the image to 7 different websites. But they are all modern and I'm not sure which (if any) owns the photograph. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nimitz Zhang (talk • contribs) 18:27, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Nimitz Zhang: Could you first fix the date, and change author to unknown if you can't find it? Thanks, Yann (talk) 09:44, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Respectfully done. Currently, I am sending out email to both German and Russian website owners posting that image with google translate to trace the image to its source. I am afraid that they will ignore me or cannot find the source either, and the 7 day deletion delay is running low - is there a faster, more professional way of tracing the image to its owner? Thanks ahead. --Nimitz Zhang (talk) 15:33, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Nimitz Zhang: Do not remove information. Add an approximate date, and {{Unknown}} in the author field. Regards, Yann (talk) 17:12, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Done again. I contacted the author of the oldest post containing that image, and he linked me to an even older post, whose author seems to be Polish - I hope he uses Google Translate and has more info on that image.
One point I would like to bring up is that the image is probably taken in Germany in late 1944 or mid 1945. If an image belongs to the public domain 70 years after it was taken, then this image should be free to use by logic, even though I cannot find its photographer (One of the German weapon workers)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nimitz Zhang (talk • contribs) 18:08, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Nimitz Zhang: Yes, that is a possibility. So write that in the description with {{Anonymous-EU}} as a license. Mention all the research you did about the author. Regards, Yann (talk) 05:16, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for pointing that out. Please check if I have done them correctly or what more I need to add regarding date, photographer and license. Furthermore, I wonder who will eventually check and confirm the license (which will prevent the image from being deleted) and when he/she will check it, for 7 days till deletion is not a long time. Thanks and regards! --Nimitz Zhang (talk) 20:59, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Nimitz Zhang: I further edited the description. That's how it should be. Please note that it is the date of publication which matters, not the date it was taken. Regards, Yann (talk) 05:08, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
PS: You don't need to ping me on my own talk page.
Thanks a ton! I have a lot to learn indeed. Please don't reply - I know you are busy but just want to show gratitude. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nimitz Zhang (talk • contribs) 05:52, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Monaco and NBA files

Hi, about Monaco photos they are my own work, I did it with my former phone (I changed it because I broke it); about NBA files, there was a huge mistake: you can see everything from here (check "Cipriana Canovi files" to see why), Cipriana Canovi allowed me to use the photos but the guys of Commons Italy never answered her, that's the problem. --Valentinenba97 (msg) 14:19, 20 July 2019 (CEST)

@Valentinenba97: Hi,
It seems we never got a permission for these files. Although I don't speak Italian, I checked the tickets. If we receive a permission, the files could be undeleted. Regards, Yann (talk) 12:22, 20 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The bad thing is that she sent an E-Mail to them, but they didn't answer, and I can make a screenshot of that. --Valentinenba97 (msg) 14:25, 20 July 2019 (CEST)
@Valentinenba97: There are 3 tickets about Cipriana Canovi: ticket:2019031710006314, ticket:2019030510009432, ticket:2019030310003192, and as far as Google Translate allows, none of them contains a valid permission. Pinging @Ruthven: . Regards, Yann (talk) 12:48, 20 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Valentinenba97: Hello! Valentino, for the Monaco files, they were published on Facebook, before than here. You should just point us to your Facebook profile, so that we can verify the permission. Same for the NBA files. Thanks --Ruthven (msg) 18:16, 20 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Note to Yann: we've a permission from Cipriana Canovi (ticket:2019031710006314), but never had a file + source linked to it (so, it has never been "validated"). --Ruthven (msg) 18:18, 20 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
About Monaco one of the photos is on my Instagram profile, I didn't want to give it for privacy but if you want it. Unfortunally the other one is on my former phone which is dead. --Valentinenba97 (msg) 20:19, 20 July 2019 (CEST)

Luna 3 closure

I really do not understand this closure, considering it goes directly against the very rationale you cited when closing Commons:Deletion requests/File:Luna 3 moon.jpg. The rationale for the latter was (mistakenly, I believe, since it goes against COM:PCP, which *is* policy) that a strong argument could be made for that image to fall under {{PD-RU-exempt-autocam}}. However, that argument does not apply to File:Image invisible hemisphere of the Moon from Luna-3.gif, since that image has been blatantly manipulated by human hands, being a derivative of File:Luna 3 moon.jpg, so the autocam argument simply fails. Further, it's now still licensed as {{PD-USGov-NASA}}, which is also blatantly false. What then should the license be? It can't be autocam, and it can't be NASA. I just don't get this. Huntster (t @ c) 13:23, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Huntster: Hi,
Ok, I changed the license. Thanks for pointing that out.
For the deletion rationale, you claim that the restoration created a copyright, right? So far, I have never seen that accepted, but you are free to open a new DR for testing that. But that's not what you wrote previously. Regards, Yann (talk) 13:30, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy delete

Hi Yann, I had marked few photographs inside a complete albumn from flickr and forget to dismark there, because they shows not substantielly peoples, only parents or other other people of the children. So these are not teh goal of Commons. merci K@rl (talk) 14:13, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

PS:Few of these are very similar to others and so there are not helpfull too. Have a look in the corresponding cateory. -K@rl (talk) 14:24, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Karl Gruber: OK, but your deletion rationale was not very clear. I think group photos of sport teams should be within scope. Regards, Yann (talk) 14:57, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Savoir vivre

Bonjour Yann.

@Paul.schrepfer: Bonjour,
Cordialement. - C'est moi (talk) 11:45, 22 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message and warning.

These pictures are made from me with my permission.

Although, I do not know who made these pictures, as I have no contact to him.

So, what to do now?

Thank you for your help!

I still have no idea.

Hi, Yann:

I've being trying to build this Wikipedia page: en:Reynold_Alexander. But have being having copyright problems with the images. What do we need to do to use the photos? We first tried using photos that where in the persons website and ask permission to use them, but we did not find any form for written consent to use them. We then try using pictures that where not used anywhere online and still had copyright problems. Can you please direct me on how is the correct way to use images.

Thanks in advance, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Walle8 (talk • contribs) 14:56, 23 July 2019 (UTC) (UTC)[reply]

@Walle8: Hi,
Who is the photographer? Who is the copyright holder? For images not directly created by you, the copyright holder has to send a permission for a free license by email. Please see COM:OTRS for the instructions. Also these images are very small and have no EXIF data. Why not uploading the original files? Regards, Yann (talk) 16:32, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Recent deletions

Hello there,

You posted a warning, along with three deletion notices on my talk page, so I wanted to reach out to you about them.

  1. You deleted two images that I uploaded years ago and nothing had been said about them. Was there a reason for that?
  2. Official Photo of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.jpg is from the Official Archdiocese Website. That is his official photo, so then under which license would I have uploaded that with?
  3. Your warning has some language that I find a bit putting off, and a bit inaccurate. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. For clarification as #2 mentions, I wasn't sure on which license to use. Also the only other issue of me uploading an image was nearly four years ago, and that is the only editor aside from you. Your warning with the language it accompanies almost paints the image of me being a reckless editor and uploading with no regard.
  4. You deleted Official Photo of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.jpg almost immediately, yet have left the other two images as they are, and they have been for years now.

I understand you have a task, but with the language you've communicated with, it's putting off to someone with a circumstance like this and so I'd like some clarification.

I look forward to your response. --Giooo95 (talk) 04:35, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Giooo95: Hi,
For the photos, you need a formal written permission from the copyright holder.
The paintings may be OK, if they are old enough (the artist should be dead for more than 70 years), but the license is wrong. Otherwise, you need a permission from the artist. Please see COM:OTRS for the instructions. If you have no permission, these files are copyright violations. Regards, Yann (talk) 04:55, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Yann: Hello,

About this upload (Nastrino Ufficiali SME Stato Maggiore Esercito.jpg) I don't understand why I can't upload it. It's in a lot of militar websites without copyright. In any case if I take a photo of it, is it possible to publish it? Otherwise you can delete it.

Thank you

Question

Do you know why we have both Category:Photographs_by_Eva_Rinaldi and Category:Photographs_by_Eva_Rinaldi_(check_needed)?

https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Photographs_by_Eva_Rinaldi_(check_needed)&action=history seems to say it was started by a User:Russavia. I went to their user talk page seeking an explanation, and learned you blocked them. Do you have any idea why the images in the category need to be checked? Do you know what someone thought they should be checked for? Geo Swan (talk) 06:12, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Geo Swan: Hi,

Violates copyrights by uploading my own made pictures???

Dear Yann, honestly I do not understand the notice of deletion of the referenced images. I made the photos I uploaded, I thought that by uploading them and giving up/released my copyright, I could improve the wikipedia standard. If someone is discriminating on Wikipedia, it's not me. I suppose that should be the issue, since the gentleman's origin in the picture is Jewish ... I honestly don't know what to do with the deletion message and the threat that if I continue to upload my self-made photos, I will lose my editing rights. Is this a threat??? I am eagerly expecting an answer as to what kind of law, policy or rule I violate(d) with uploading of exclusive self-made photographs on wikipedia. I remain cordially:Mrandrew16 (talk) 17:19, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mrandrew16: Hi,
You have a long list of copyright violations. Just taking the last deleted files, i.e. File:Miklós Hornok, captain of Hungarian Davis Cup team and his No.1 player Marton Fucsovics (2012).jpg, you copied it from another source, and you didn't provide a license.
Then could you please explain how you took File:Chanoch Nissany and Eddie Jordan.jpg and File:Paul Stoddart Bernie Ecclestone Chanoch Nissany.jpg? You mention the date of 2005, and the EXIF data says it was taken with a en:iPad Mini, which didn't exist in that time. Regards, Yann (talk) 17:41, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Yann. Let's start the "long" list of allegedly copyright violations! This morning I talked to Peter Zador by phone (Peter is one of my best friend), who made the photo of Miklós Hornok (captain of Hungarian Davis Cup team and his No.1 player Marton Fucsovics in 2012) and he authorized me to use his photo with very welcome on that site!!! I don't know what kind violation you talked about regarding this photo since I displayed that I am the representative of the owner who made that photo. Secondly, I was with Chanoch Nissany when he met Bernie Ecclestone and I DID THAT PHOTO on the Hungarian Grand Prix 2005 Friday morning, when Mr Nissany met Ecclestone in the Minardi motorhome! If you are still questioning any kind of competence and authority, please contact Mr Nissany and/or Mr Ecclestone and/or Mr Paul Stoddart, the that-time owner of Minardi team. As well as I was on present when Eddie Jordan met Chanoch Nissany in Silverstone during the testing in July, 2004 in Jordan Team headquarters, the photo was made downstairs. As I recognized, I made the only mistake of missing the right year (2004 instead of 2005), however I made already the correction. Please DO NOT ACCUSE anybody, including me without knowing the background and history of the referenced photos! I hope it would be sufficient information for you. Best regards, Mrandrew16 (talk) 19:37, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mrandrew16: Sorry, but that's not how it works here. The copyright holder has to provide a formal written permission if they images were not directly taken by you. So please ask Peter Zador to do that. See COM:OTRS for the instructions. And these are not your images if you are not the photographer. Regards, Yann (talk) 04:31, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

PV Sindhu image

Dear Yann,

I work for India's leading sports marketing company Baseline Ventures (www.baselineventures.com) and we officially represent PV Sindhu. I wanted to make a change to her picture which was an old one and update it with the new one. While I have been trying to provide all copyright information, you have threatened to block me for copyright infringement. The picture is owned by our company and I was getting a mail sent as per your templates approving the usage of the picture. Please let me know what have I done wrong for me to be threatened in such a way?

Will wait to hear from you. Regards Varun Menon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vroonmenon (talk • contribs) 10:14, 26 July 2019 (UTC) (UTC)[reply]

@Vroonmenon: Hi,
All documents which have been published elsewhere previously, or of which you are not directly the author, need a formal written permission. Please see COM:OTRS for the instructions. If the copyright holder is not the photographer, a proof of copyright transfer will be needed. Until we receive such a permission, they are considered as copyright violations.

Conseils ? --MHM (talk) 11:49, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@MHM55: Bonjour,
Cordialement, Yann (talk) 12:28, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Warnings? What warnings

Dear, I send you the most sincere regards. I would like to complain not because I have deleted files that I uploaded, since I violated certain rules (which was unintentionally), and I understand it. But I feel that what has happened has been that everything was like an attack, because I uploaded two images, and I understand why they were deleted, but why did a massive deletion of my files begin? Honestly, it doesn't seem fair at all, since it's a mockery of my contributions to Wikipedia. After this, I doubt if I will continue contributing. A pity the truth.--Monteaguilino1 (talk) 16:06, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Monteaguilino1: Hi,
Five of your uploads were deleted as copyright violations. But a warning is just that: a warning. Don't do it again, and everything will be fine. By the way, could you please explain how you created File:Mapa Monte Águila.png? What source did you use? Thanks, Yann (talk) 16:18, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Erase practice of Jbc

I am victim of this aggressive worker (a foto done by myself and given to the common has been erased by him). Who is the superior for him? And why isn't there an easy to understand complaint procedure?

Well, after some attempts, I succeeded to restore the foto. - But, nevertheless, Jbc is dangerous by his overwhelming engagement. I would like to recommend some disciplinary means or further education to moderate him.

I see that you uploaded old pictures. At least some of them could be accepted, but you didn't provide enough information, or the license was wrong. For old anonymous images, {{PD-anon-1923}} is the right license. Please provide as much information as possible, including the source, the author, and the details about the (probable) first publication, as this is what matters for the copyright. User Santiago RD

Hi! You have earlier warned user Santiago RD about removing deletion requests here. Today they have removed deletion-templates from a large number of pages (but not all) that have been nominated for deletion here. At the same time they have been recreating almost all pages that were deleted in the former request here. They never communicate in talk pages and they never use edit summaries, so it is impossible to communicate with them, but it seems obvious that all the flags they produce are fictitious. Hope you can help, at least to roll back all of today's edits. I feel I am fighting against windmills... Regards! --TU-nor (talk) 16:35, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

These are derivative works of satellite images, so you are not allowed to do that unless the source images are free. And you have to prove that with a source. In the absence of information, these are presumed copyright violations. Regards, Yann (talk) 16:25, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It took me some time to refine the satelite image from several black & white raw image into the colorful pictures. The raw data were provided by NASA which were some open source raw images. • Nominator comment: If you obtain the information from a governmental source, with a copyright "版權所有 © 2008-2019 QGIS " (which I guessed correctly it's a meterological agency) and enrich / process them, they are derivative. Yes, I did a google search, and you are the first uploader, but you aren't the first person which create the image which is still an non-free derivative which commons do not allow. Even if the raw data is from NASA, it has been processed by the agency in Taiwan which gives it some form of uniqueness which surpass the threshold of originality. There isn't any manner these files can be used on commons. @It's gonna be awesome: --Cohaf (talk) 18:01, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Using a method of a website that is copyrighted to extract information doesn't match. In addition, educational purpose may be compatible with local NFCC rules but not to what commons allows. Quote "you need to explain with the right license why this picture would be allowed"... (pls excuse my ignorance) but how? Regards, SKA-KSI (talk) 15:01, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@SKA-KSI: Like I said, when did Paul Traeger died? Regards, Yann (talk) 15:05, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

А ничего, что на сайте Президента ПМР http://president.gospmr.org/ стоит лицензия - All content on this site is licensed under: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International и фотография была добавлена с сайта, соответствующая лицензия указана? --Kodru (talk) 08:24, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Political party logos

Hi Yann How can I upload the logos of political parties? Are they not in public domain? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pecetowy2 (talk • contribs) 10:37, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Pecetowy2: No, there are not in the public domain, but under a copyright by their respective creators. Regards, Yann (talk) 13:19, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yann,

Hope you are well. In regards to the tag that you have left for me this morning. Yesterday was actually the very first time that I have noticed that there is some issues with the licence on some of the photos that I have uploaded in the past, sorry if there was some repeated mistake done, it's all unintentional. Couple of the photos have already been deleted by you last week, and few more are on the deletion request list now. I would highly appreciate if you can advice or help to resolve the problem with them because would be devastating to get those files deleted. I have already left a message with the Admin EugeneZelenko in regards to this issue as he actually put the mass deletion request yesterday. Hope we'll resolve the problem. Kind Regards, F00700I (talk) 08:55, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please tell me how to get a license

I got deleted the picture and also your warning regarding for the picture i've uploaded. I don't understand and need to know how can I get a license or prove to upload the picture.

Is it too complicate?

Can you send me the form and suggestion?

Best regards, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eyesonannsirium (talk • contribs) 16:30, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Eyesonannsirium: Hi,
You can give a license only if you are the copyright holder, who is usually the photographer, or his/her employer. In other cases, you need a formal written permission from the copyright holder. Please see the instructions for this case. Regards, Yann (talk) 17:10, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Help

Hi Yann. Could you take a look at the uploads of Yaitz331? His uploads such as File:Battle of Parilem 1.png and File:Battle of Yultab - 3. Night 1.png seems to fall out of com's scope. But I don't want to DR this just because I think that this is out of scope. Views? (Talk/留言/토론/Discussion) 14:24, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OK, added. Now can you remove the tags? Thanks. Yaitz331 (talk) 18:39, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yann. Thanks for the email about copy rights violation. I have requested approval from CET, to use all the images I uploaded. They verbally agreed and will send a formal email to me with that approval. Will this suffice? I understand I have a week to clarify all this?

Thanks Ayal Gersh ayalgersh on Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ayalgersh (talk • contribs) 17:34, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ayalgersh: Hi,
The permission validation can take some time. Do you have the ticket number? Regards, Yann (talk) 07:23, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,I don't see any ticket number - where do I see the ticket number?. I'm referring to the files I've uploaded and they were approved by CET, they are now working on writing the approval letter in English. Please do not remove these from the page as this will approve very soon by them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ayalgersh (talk • contribs) 07:30, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ayalgersh: You will get the ticket number if you are in copy to the permission email. Regards, Yann (talk) 07:33, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
PS: You don't need to ping me on my own talk page.
I was not copied on the permission email. When I get the letter from CET (www.cet.co.il) who do I need to email it to? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ayalgersh (talk • contribs) 08:04, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ayalgersh: The copyright holder must send the permission directly to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Ask them to be in the copy, so you will be informed. Regards, Yann (talk) 08:30, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yann, I've uploaded the files with permission from the author who is also the subject of the photos. I've done this in Wiki Commons and have sent an email to Commons to approve these photos as a representative of the copyright holder. I believe I've done everything correctly. It has been incredibly frustrating trying to get these up, so if you have any advice on how to do that more effectively I'd love to hear it. Cheers, tbc32 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tbc32 (talk • contribs) 16:52, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, the ticket is ticket:2019081810004583. They told me that permission from the subject wasn't enough (even though he owns the photos) so I'm trying to get the photographers permission, or get them listed on a CC sanctioned wordpress site. Hello.

By the looks of your talk page, you already get loads of messages about this kind of stuff. I'll try to make this quick.

One of the files I uploaded was missing its Copyright status. You respectfully warned me about this issue. Less than 5 minutes after the warning, the file was deleted. I did intend to add the {{PD-text logo}} tag to it, but I never got my chance. The deletion summary said the file was a copyright violation. If the file was in fact copyrighted, I apologize. I've seen many other logos with {{PD-text logo}} tag and thought the file I uploaded would fit the requirements.

Out of curiosity, if I had immediately applied the {{PD-text logo}} tag, would it have been deleted as fast? I know I don't own the work, but I doubt the uploaders of all the other logos did either.

@Diriector Doc: Hi,
I am one of the most active admins, so yes, I get feedback. I suppose you are talking about File:Gamepedia logo.png. This appears too complex to be {{PD-textlogo}} to me. If you disagree, please ask on COM:UDR. For File:Algs.png, please indicate the source, date, author, and a suitable license, otherwise it will be deleted. Multiple copyrighted uploads

Yann, I recently dealt with copyrighted content copied from the school's website at en:Cambridge School Srinivaspuri by Csnp (talk · contribs) and Deepanshi.82 (talk · contribs). Both users have uploaded multiple school-related images on wikipmedia commons and marked them as "Own work". A spot check indicates that the images uploaded by Csnp may indeed be their property (or, rather that the user is working on behalf of the school). However, the images uploaded by Deepanshi.82 appear to be just taken from the school's website (eg this page) with no indication of permission or access to the original resolution files. For example File:Csnp-med.jpg is a copy of this; File:Csnp-chemistry Lab.jpg is copy of this etc.

Ronhjones has dealt with some of this in the past but appears to be inactive at the moment. I am loath to search for corresponding images for each of Deepanshi.82's uploads and tag them individually. Is there a more efficient way to deal with this? Abecedare (talk) 22:00, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Violaciones de los derechos de autor

Hola Yann. --Oniichan (talk) 04:22, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Indian Army has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this template, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hello Yann, talking about the File:ChrisMartin HockeyClubTeamAtSherborneSchool.jpg... Okay, can you give me a little more of time until she sends the permission? Can you please take off the warning from the file at least for now? Yes, that's the one I'm talking about. It says that they are a Hockey Club Team, but the year the photo was taken is 1995. It's a hockey club, yes, but right below are listed the names of the players on the photo, there's Chris Martin, the british musician when he was younger studying at Sherborne School, so she explained to me that they want to respect the personal privacy of its former alumni and I couldn't be more agree. Logo 40 millions d'automobilistes

Bonjour,

@Caspien06: Bonjour,
