Hi Jeff, This is a nice image, but we need categories and a better title. ;o) Yann (talk) 09:42, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

@Yann: Thanks, I improved it, but I wish the photographer had included more info on Flickr.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 11:58, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

The images nominated for deletion will be updated

Hello Jeff G.,

I apologize if I may have violated any of Wikimedia commons policy with the images; Obara_new_cover.jpg and Dare_Olaitan.jpg, I'm still familiarizing myself with Wikipedia's policies, I will quickly update the above mentioned images with required information. In light of that I ask that you please be patient with me till then.

Thank you Aivrie (talk) 09:59, 1 May 2024 (UTC)Aivrie

QuickDelete

Hi Jeff, Since I stole some QuickDelete options out of you common.js I figured I might as well give something back. I wrote a G1 QuickDelete option in my common.js if you would like to use it. Best, Seawolf35 (talk) 19:24, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

@Seawolf35: Thanks, I'll try that.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 13:10, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi Jeff, We shouldn't so many external links in the description. Thanks, Yann (talk) 10:50, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

@Yann: Ok, I cut it down.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 14:04, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

Categorization

Hello Jeff, wondering if you would know what to do with these files. Need to be categorized, but apart from that. Thanks. Lotje (talk) 09:47, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

@Lotje: I tagged them again. See also Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Hasanalani97.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 16:04, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
Thank you ever so much Jeff. Lotje (talk) 16:46, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

FYI: sock

Hi, I do remember this Sivajegan tamil (talk · contribs) already had several socks and blocked, but don't remember them. The ID's main objective is uploading personal stuffs. AntanO 03:52, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Guess most of these images are kind of out of scope then? Cheers. Lotje (talk) 10:54, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Fair use

All of the files you nominated for deletion were uploaded under fair use except for File:Wolfgang Paul portrait.jpg, File:Ruska Ernst B1.jpg, and File:Harold Urey, c. 1932.jpg, (all of which were already deleted, or nominated for deletion). This was my mistake, and I have since only uploaded files which I'm certain fits the free use criteria. The AIP Emilio Segrè Visual Archives is listed as the copyright holder of the rest of the images on the AIP.org website which according to their "Rules for Use and Publication" [1] means they may be used freely without permission: if the American Institute of Physics (AIP) is listed as the copyright holder of an image, you may use it freely without permission. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Endebyrd (talk • contribs) 16:22, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

Again a double vote?

Very amusing Jeff G., please take this title as a well meant joke. But once again I noticed a double vote of yours. In this discussion you voted yes on the 2 of May and on the 18 May again. And I am sure you didn't mean to vote twice, its just funny its again me who notice that you voted twice. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 12:26, 20 May 2024 (UTC)

@Paradise Chronicle: Sorry, I fixed it. I will pay more attention to my previous votes in such large sections.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 12:36, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
File:Huawei wordmark.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

V2C

Hi, Does V2C work for you? I couldn't upload any video for the last week. Thanks, Yann (talk) 19:34, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

@Yann: Sadly no, my latest attempt to upload https://archive.org/details/dixiana-4-k to File:Dixiana 1930 (colorized, 4k, 60FPS).webm for you has been stuck pending for a week. Where do you find these 96+ year old and PD movies to upload?   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 12:07, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
Please see my video uploads from 6 May onwards. V2C mostly worked until 15 May, and then they all failed. Now I am uploading them to IA or YT. I thought YT created WEBM versions, but it doesn't. Also, through my local library, I can have access to hundreds of old films. I haven't tried yet to upload from that. Yann (talk) 16:40, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
I think that this Dixiana video is probably too big to be uploaded that way. It needs to be converted locally to a file less than 5 GB, then it could be uploaded. Yann (talk) 10:03, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
@Yann: That may be, but error 137 still needs to be documented and F2C still needs to deal with it gracefully. Can you possibly reduce the video to a little less than 4k pixels or a little less than 60FPS for upload? I have not been able to get such conversion working locally.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 10:13, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
Inner details of ffmpeg is Hebrew to me. I can't help, but give a link to the doc. Sorry. As I wrote elsewhere, I tried using VLC, but it produces a 8.77 GB WEBM file from 1.2 GB MPEG4 file (after 24h running on my laptop). Clearly not a solution, as I can't do more than one film at a time. It would take ages to process all the films. If V2C uses the same parameters, it is not surprising all my videos failed. Yann (talk) 10:22, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
@Yann: Thanks, I'll look into that. The V2C talk page reveals much syntax for ffmpeg.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 10:27, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
May be Racconish could help. He has uploaded many videos. Yann (talk) 10:31, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
What is the point of uploading a colorized version when the original has the last 20 minutes in technicolor? — Racconish💬 12:02, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
@Racconish: I was trying to help Yann.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 12:06, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
Sure, but wouln't you both agree the charm of this film is precisely the old technicolor? — Racconish💬 12:13, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
