Description
English: Wooden fence on a Mekong bank, around a small cultivated island near Don Loppadi, in Si Phan Don (4000 islands), Laos, with a couple working. The fence is a protection to prevent intruders from cultivating the same land. This small ground certainly doesn't belong to anyone officially, or the official owner just doesn't care. Since this tiny island is totally submerged during the monsoon, the first locals who decide to settle there after the recession of the Mekong need to give a clear signal to the neighborhood that the domain is not available anymore.
Français : Clôture en bois sur une berge du Mékong, autour d'une petite île cultivée près de Don Loppadi, à Si Phan Don (4000 îles), Laos, avec un couple travaillant. Cette barrière est une protection contre les intrus qui voudraient cultiver le même terrain. Cette petite terre n'appartient certainement à personne officiellement, ou bien le propriétaire officiel ne s'en soucie pas. Du fait que cette petite île est totalement immergée pendant la mousson, les premiers locaux qui décident de s'établir là après la décrue du Mékong doivent donner un signal clair au voisinnage que le domaine n'est plus disponible.
