I want to make a correction in File:Range of NeanderthalsAColoured.png, because Georgia and Armenia are located in Southwest Asia and need to be colored accordingly to the color designated for that region.

Are you suggesting a different category and thus color for the three Caucasus countries? While the Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia) are part of Asia and Southwest Asia, they are also never included as part of the Middle East, and kept separate from the Middle East. I want to make updates in the files listed below, because Armenian is no longer spoken over a territory in Azerbaijan since 2023, after the flight of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians and the collapse of the breakaway Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (Republic of Artsakh) in 2023. (The maps lumped together, have the same design and color pattern.)

On 5 June 2024, 03:12, I reverted the file to the version as of 18:01, 14 October 2009 because the latter's cedar tree is the same as the one on the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ logo, and it respects the Lebanese Constitution which states that its width should be exactly one third that of the flag (the version as of 15:47, 9 January 2019 used a slightly different cedar tree that does not respect this specification, on top of presenting an oddity whereas its left root does not touch the lower red stripe). I would now like to change the colour tones to better reflect those of the flags displayed at government buildings in Lebanon, which are a bit darker. I have been the only user to update this file since 6 september 2016 whenever the color code of one country needs changing and it is the first time ever that I am blocked with a "File overwriting not allowed" message.

I used GIMP to crop off the excess edge pixels to make the border of the GUI window the border of the image. After that, I inspected the remaining contents of the image and I found that the image contained only 11 distinct colors. Since 11 is less than or equal to 16, we can switch the image from 24-bits-per-pixel RGB to 4-bits-per-pixel Indexed mode. I performed the change using OxiPNG and ZopfliPNG. This image is currently encoded as 32-bits-per-pixel RGBA. This is supremely stupid. Not only is this image completely opaque, making the alpha channel unnecessary, this image also happens to contain only 11 distinct colors. This means that this image can be re-encoded in 4-bits-per-pixel Indexed mode. I performed this correction using OxiPNG and ZopfliPNG. The result is the image shrank to 8 KB.
